A native of Penticton, British Columbia, Bruce Affleck attended the University of Denver and was later selected by the California Seals, 21st overall, in the 1974 NHL draft. He was traded to St. Louis in January of 1975 and played defense for five seasons with the Blues. Following his time with the Blues, Affleck played for the Vancouver Canucks and New York Islanders.
After hockey, Bruce worked with W.M. French Realtors, a corporate relocation firm. He again joined the Blues in 1987 as sales manager, and over the course of the next 18 years Affleck continued in sales as well as handling color radio broadcast duties and eventually becoming a color television analyst with KPLR TV and Fox Sports Net until the 2001 season.
Affleck has been heavily involved in charity work since his playing days, which includes the March of Dimes, St. Louis University Lupus Foundation and the Fourteen Fund, which is the Blues. charitable trust. He also started the Blues Alumni Association, which provides an annual four-year scholarship to graduating seniors in the St. Louis area. Bruce and his wife, Cecily, are the parents of two children: Shannon and J.Q. St. Louis has remained home for the Affleck family since 1975.
